Our day-to-day lives are busy and hectic enough so when you throw in planning an event the mental and physical stress level jumps to ten. To help alleviate the stress try these 5 non-stressful activities, I guarantee you will feel better.

Exercise is one of the best ways to release stress. It doesn’t require any planning or fancy equipment (not entirely). When you start to feel as though you can’t handle another problem or set back lace up those sneakers and go for a jog/walk/run or grab the leash and walk the dog or try rock climbing. Another great idea is to go dancing, take a Yoga class. Can you say Zumba.

There is nothing like a relaxing massage to relieve the aches and pains that our bodies endure daily. The mental stress that we go through during our day to day activities can be just as exhausting as the physical demands that we have to endure. To relax your mind and body this planner recommends a massage. You can go alone or with a group of friends. Many spas or massage parlors offer couples or group accommodation, just call ahead and make sure they can meet your needs. Remember this is a time to relax so leave the event talk and cell phone in the car.

Popcorn - Soft drink - Blanket - Off to the Movies. Sitting in a dark theater, where no talking is allowed and cellphones are prohibited during the movie showing you’ll have a great excuse for not making or receiving any calls/messages. This makes for the perfect option to take your mind off event planning for 1 to 2 hours or more depending on the movie you choose to see. Whether you make this a solo outing or choose to bring a friend or two, this down time is totally worth it.

Night Out. There is nothing like a night out with your friends to get your mind off event planning. Be it dinner, night club, arcade or friendly game night hanging with your friends is a natural and fun way to reduce mental stress. Many friends will listen to you vent for a while before they jump in to help you relax. My friends start with a timer and once my time is over the conversation is over. So, don’t hesitate to call your friends and go hang out.

Day/ weekend trips are another way to de-stress. Many cities have little hide-a-ways, or B&B’s or local amusement parks. Often times we just need to get out of our city to escape the stress of event planning. These little trips are awesome to do solo, especially if you know how to shut the outside world out. If you choose to take a day trip or weekend trip leave all the event planning work at home or the office.
Before you load the car and hit the road, remember to tell a friend or family member where you are going in case of an emergency, otherwise… Relax
This is not nearly close to all the things you can do to beat the event planning stress, just some of the things I do as an event planner. The most important thing I can tell you is planning an event is hard work, and you should consider hiring a professional event planner to manage and coordinate your event, leaving you event planning stress-free.
